Enjoy a course of soft and smooth homemade tōfu and Shamo chicken sukiyaki
Located immediately past the Kanpū-zan Tunnel, this inn is tucked away at the headstream of the Yoshino-gawa. Guests can enjoy courses of sukiyaki with Shamo chicken that Ryōma* is said to have loved and yudōfu** made with homemade tōfu, while taking in the beauty of the seasonal landscape. If you’re lucky, you might get to see the inn’s cat Kan-chan (named after Kanpū-zan Mountain).
* Sakamoto Ryōma: A samurai who played a key role in bringing an end to the last feudal military government in Japan.
**Yudōfu: Hot pot of tōfu boiled in simple dashi broth. Sauces and condiments are added to individual servings.
