Shikoku Karst
Enjoy a drive in the sky above the clouds with a stunning view. There are grazing cows, too.
This karst landform, which is one of the three largest in Japan, runs about 25 kilometers along the ridge that straddles the border of Ehime and Kōchi prefectures. A gentle landscape spreads across a large grass field dotted by white limestone. It is a driving and touring route that offers magnificent views where pure blue skies and white clouds feel very close in proximity. At Mezuru-daira plateau, which is located around the center of the karst, cows are out grazing from spring through fall, creating a soothing, idyllic view. Visitors can enjoy a breathtaking view of beautiful rows of mountains by day and sky-filled stars by night. Camping and other lodging accommodations available.
